1. A tantalum carbide-coated carbon material, comprising:
a carbon substrate; and a tantalum carbide coating film on which the carbon substrate is provided, wherein, the tantalum carbide coating film comprises one or more tantalum carbide crystals, a (311) plane of the tantalum carbide crystals has a maximum intensity at an orientation angle α of at least 80 degrees as determined by a pole figure measurement with an X-ray diffraction, and a sum of diffraction intensities of the (311) plane and a (220) plane of the tantalum carbide crystals in an X-ray diffraction pattern is not lower than 0.5 and not higher than 0.9 as compared to a sum total of diffraction intensities of all crystal planes of the tantalum carbide crystals in the X-ray diffraction pattern. |
