PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a micro pattern provided in a paper sheet kind and the characteristics of the paper sheet kind.SOLUTION: The paper sheet kind identification device includes control means for executing: light emitting processing alternately repeating a first period in which a first light emitting element 21A is made to emit light and a second period in which a second light emitting element 21B is made to emit light; first determination processing for determining the characteristics of the paper sheet kind on the basis of a light detection output signal output from a light receiving element 23 in the first period; and second determination processing for interpolating a missed place by the first period for the waveform of the light detection output signal output from the light receiving element 23 in the second period and determining the presence or absence of a micro pattern. |
