Provided is a manual release device which is for a parking brake and by means of which it is possible to easily perform a manual operation for releasing the operation of a parking spring brake mechanism, even when subject to space restrictions in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of a cylinder main body. The manual release device (3) for a parking brake is used in a brake cylinder device (2) provided with a fluid brake mechanism (24), a parking spring brake mechanism (25), a transmission mechanism (27), and a lock mechanism (28), and is provided with a lever section (54) and a cable section (55). By pulling out the latch member (49) of the lock mechanism (28) to the outside of the cylinder main body (23) by means of rocking, the lever section (54) releases the engagement of the latch member (49) with the transmission mechanism (27). The cable section (55) transmits operation force and causes the lever section (54) to rock. The direction in which the latch member (49) is pulled out and the direction that the end of the cable section (55) moves in a manner so as to cause the lever section (54) to rock are set in a manner so as to intersect. |
