The present invention relates to an input device and method of a smart terminal. More specifically, the input device comprises: an actual region touch sensor disposed in an actual object region; and a controller for controlling operation of a smart terminal by analyzing touch input information outputted to the actual region touch sensor. The controller comprises: an input pattern confirming module for determining whether a touch input pattern of a user is identical to a set input pattern by analyzing the touch input information outputted from the actual region touch sensor; and an input pattern analyzing module for analyzing a position and a touch input form of a touch input related to an actual object by analyzing the touch input information outputted from the actual region touch sensor, when the touch input pattern of the user is determined to be identical to the set input pattern in the input pattern confirming module. Accordingly, a more intuitive and rapid interface can be provided to a user, and a problem such as complication in usage and consumption of long time when inputting through the touch screen may be resolved.
