PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical catalyst laminate having water decomposition activity which is more improved than the prior arts and a method for producing the optical catalyst.SOLUTION: An optical catalyst laminate comprises a sheet-like contact layer and an optical catalyst particle layer which is fixed on the surface of the contact layer. In the optical catalyst particle layer, a plurality of optical catalyst particles for generating hydrogen and a plurality of optical catalyst particles for generating oxygen are dispersed each other. On a same surface side of the contact layer, at least a part of the plurality of optical catalyst particles for generating hydrogen and at least a part of the plurality of optical catalyst particles for generating oxygen come into contact with the contact layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
