The present invention relates to a composition for alleviating lipid or treating obesity, comprising ethyl acetate fraction from momordica charantia extract. The ethyl acetate fraction from momordica charantia extract shows no toxicity, such as liver damage, has an activity of inhibiting fat accumulation higher than that of N-acetyl-L-cysteine, and provides a superior effect of alleviating lipid compared to simvastatin as a cholesterol lowering agent. In addition, the composition comprising ethyl acetate fraction from momordica charantia extract shows a body weight lowering effect and an anti-obesity activity, and thus is useful for preventing or treating obesity or blood lipid-related diseases.
