PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate selling of tax-free merchandise by improving the manipulating ease for operators.SOLUTION: A POS register for use by a merchandise registration processing unit in registering products to be purchased is equipped with a tax exemption type information memory that stores for each product item the product code of the item and the type of tax exemption for the product associated with each other; a tax exemption designation accepting unit that accepts designation of commercial transactions as objects of tax exemption; and a determining unit that, when the tax exemption designation accepting unit has accepted a commercial transaction as an object of tax exemption, reads the tax exemption type information on registered products from the tax exemption type information memory and determines the tax exemption type of the item matching the product code on the basis of the tax exemption type information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
