PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve energy saving and maintain stable fixing performance.SOLUTION: There is provided a fixing device 12 including a fixing belt 38, a pressure roller 30, heating means 56 for heating the fixing belt 38, and temperature detection means 34 for detecting the temperature of the fixing belt 38, where the heating means 56 has heating areas divided into plurality over the width of a sheet P and is installed on the upstream of a fixing nip part N and the temperature detection means 34 is installed on the downstream of the heating means 56 and on the upstream of the fixing nip part N; the fixing device 12 further includes heating control means 37 for controlling the heating means 56 so that the temperature of the fixing belt 38 in contact with an image area becomes a fixing temperature and the temperature of the fixing belt 38 in contact with a non-image area becomes a temperature lower than the fixing temperature, and on the basis of a result of the detection of the temperature detection means 34, when the temperature of the fixing belt 38 in contact with the image area is less than a predetermined temperature, adjusting a power to be supplied to the heating means 56.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
