PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable semiconductor light-emitting device and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, a semiconductor light-emitting device is provided, which comprises: a first layer; a second layer; an intermediate layer; and a third layer. The first layer has: a first face having an uneven part including a recessed portion having an inclined side face; and a second face opposite to the first face. The first layer includes a first semiconductor layer of a first conductivity type. The second layer includes a second semiconductor layer of a second conductivity type.
