PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate adhesion of a membrane electrode assembly of a fuel cell easily and in a short time.SOLUTION: An evaluation method includes: (a) operating the fuel cell in the state where water being present in the membrane electrode assembly provided in the fuel cell can be drained by a reaction gas supplied to the fuel cell and then, while executing power generation corresponding to a load of a load device connected between output terminals of the fuel cells, measuring a first output value that is cell output generated between the output terminals of the fuel cells at an evaluation temperature in the case where a temperature of a refrigerant supplied to the fuel cell is defined as the evaluation temperature at which the water being present in the membrane electrode assembly cannot be drained by the reaction gas; (b) while continuing the power generation corresponding to the load of the load device, measuring a second output value that is cell output at the evaluation temperature in the case where temperature of the refrigerant is reduced from the evaluation temperature to a freezing point temperature at which cell output is drooped, and then elevated to the evaluation temperature again; and (c) evaluating the quality of adhesion between a catalyst layer and a gas diffusion layer in the membrane electrode assembly on the basis of a differential between the first output value and the second output value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
