According an embodiment of the present invention, a steering gear for an automobile comprises: a pinion shaft having a pinion gear formed on one side thereof; a rack bar having a rack gear formed on an outer surface thereof to be meshed with the pinion gear, and converting rotational motion of the pinion shaft into linear motion; a housing to accommodate the pinion shaft and the rack bar; and a pinion plug which is penetrated by the pinion shaft, is mounted on the housing to support the axial weight of the pinion shaft, and receives a weight from the outside when mounted on the housing to plastically deform a mounting portion with the housing. According to the present invention, a weight is applied to the upper surface of the pinion plug having a groove formed on the outer circumferential surface thereof to plastically deform screw threads of the pinion plug and screw threads of the housing to completely attach the pinion plug to the housing simply by applying a weight on the upper surface of the pinion plug without using an additional locking device to increase a coupling force of the pinion plug, thereby preventing a loosening phenomenon of the pinion plug by a driving condition or an external environmental condition to stably support the pinion shaft and prevent noise and damage to a product caused by a gap. |
