PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disc drive capable of detecting a failure of a photo-sensor for detecting disc insertion and detecting foreign matter, and when detecting a failure, controlling not to perform foreign matter check operation or disc discharge operation.SOLUTION: A slot-loading type optical disc drive includes: a photo-sensor which is disposed in the vicinity of an insertion port and which changes the output when detecting a disc insertion; and a control unit that, when the photo-sensor detects light before completing ejection of the disc and when the photo-sensor detects no light after completing the ejection of the disc, diagnoses a failure of the photo-sensor, and diagnoses no failure of the photo-sensor when the photo-sensor detects light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
