PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent such a problem that while a head that discharges droplets moves, powder drifts to adhere to a discharge surface and causes a discharge failure.SOLUTION: A three-dimensional molding apparatus includes: a molding tank 22 where a molded layer 30 formed of bonded powder 20 is stacked to mold a three-dimensional molded object; and a molding unit 5 having a head 50 that discharges droplets of a molding liquid 10 to the powder 20 in the molding tank 22. The head 50 is disposed to be reciprocally movable in a main scanning direction; the molding unit 5 is disposed to be movable in a sub-scanning direction with respect to the molding tank 22; and the head 50 is disposed to be vertically movable. The apparatus carries out a retraction operation upon moving the molding unit 5 in the sub-scanning direction while the head 50 faces the molding tank 22, by elevating the head 50 to broaden a gap between the head 50 and the powder surface of the molding tank 22 than a gap when droplets are discharged.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
