PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify process control and to ensure high qualities of an optical patterned retardation film compared to the prior art.SOLUTION: A production method of a patterned retardation film is provided, in which a patterned retardation film is produced by successively processing a substrate made of a long transparent film material while conveying the film material. The substrate includes a primer layer disposed on only one surface. The production method of the patterned retardation film includes: an alignment layer production step SP3 of producing an alignment layer on a surface of the substrate where the primer layer is not disposed; a retardation layer production step SP4 of producing a retardation layer from a liquid crystal material on the alignment layer; a surface material disposition step SP5 of disposing a surface material on the retardation layer; and an adhesive layer production step SP6 of producing an adhesive layer on the surface of the substrate where the primer layer is disposed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
