PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber that can be produced without exerting an adverse effect to spinning operability and moreover has an excellent thermal insulation effect.SOLUTION: A functional fiber comprises a thermoplastic resin including pyrogenic fine particles and far-infrared radioactive fine particles that constitutes at least a part of the surface of the fiber. The fiber contains 0.1 to 2.5 mass% of the pyrogenic fine particles and 0.1 to 2.5 mass% of the far-infrared radioactive fine particles based on the whole thermoplastic resin, where the total content of the pyrogenic fine particles and the far-infrared radioactive fine particles is 0.2 to 3.0 mass% based on the whole thermoplastic resin. The fiber has a cross-section shape of a multifoliate shape having 3 to 6 leaf parts.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
