PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Marchantia paleacea extract or essence containing a high concentration of perillaldehyde which can provide a perilla-like, green-like, and floral-like fragrance having higher palatability.SOLUTION: A Marchantia paleacea extract or essence containing a high concentration of perillaldehyde can be produced by extracting with an organic solvent or steam distilling a whole plant or a thallus of Marchantia paleacea grown by artificial cultivation. The extract or essence obtained has an excellent fragrance and can be used as a perfume composition. Further, by adding the extract, essence, or perfume composition, a product can be provided with good fragrance.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
