PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved synthetic processes for the large-scale production of boronic ester and acid compounds.SOLUTION: A composition comprising an ether solvent that has low miscibility with water and at least about ten moles of a boronic ester compound of formula (1). In the formula, Ris an optionally substituted aliphatic, aromatic, or aromatic heterocyclic group; Ris hydrogen, a nucleofugic group, or an optionally substituted aliphatic, aromatic, or aromatic heterocyclic group; Ris a nucleofugic group or an optionally substituted aliphatic, aromatic, or aromatic heterocyclic group; and Rand Rare each independently an optionally substituted aliphatic group; and Rand R, taken together with the intervening oxygen and boron atoms, form an optionally substituted 5- to 10-membered ring having 0-2 additional ring heteroatoms.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
