This shock absorber (100) is provided with: a tube (1) having a piston rod (2) extending from one end; a cap member (3) which is provided to the end of the tube (1) at the one-end side, and has recesses (3b) formed in the outer peripheral surface (3a); and a cover member (4) which is provided to the tip side of the piston rod (2), and has, formed on the inner peripheral surface (4b), protrusions (4c) which engage with the recesses (3b). The protrusions (4c) on the cover member (4) engage with the recesses (3b) in the cap member (3), and as a result the shock absorber (100) is held in a contracted state. |
