This control system for a work machine comprises: a steering device that operates steered wheels of the work machine; an orientation detector that detects a first azimuth, which is information related to the direction of the work machine; a steering angle detector that detects the steering angle of the steering device; an azimuth calculation unit that uses the steering angle detected by the steering angle detector to obtain a second azimuth of the work machine; and a vehicle control unit that uses the first azimuth and/or the second azimuth to control the steering device. The first azimuth and/or the second azimuth are switchably sent to the vehicle control unit.
