摘要 Provided is a method for controlling the position of a vehicle. Provided is a smart cruise control system of a vehicle, comprising: a location detection unit calculating the current location of the vehicle; a forward vehicle detection unit detecting a forward vehicle of the vehicle; a navigation unit calculating a traveling path of the vehicle by using the current location of the vehicle calculated by the location detection unit and pre-stored map information; and a control unit which calculates an estimated path of the vehicle based on the current location of the vehicle calculated trough the location detection unit and the traveling path of the vehicle, and when the forward vehicle detected by the forward vehicle detection unit is present within the estimated path, sets the forward vehicle as a preceding vehicle. The present invention prevents a laser from incorrectly detecting a vehicle in the next lane as a preceding vehicle, when the vehicle enters a curved lane.
