A material for an organic electroluminescent (EL) device represented by General Formula (1): wherein in General Formula (1), X is selected from an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, CR12R13, SiR14R15 and NR16, R1 to R16 are each independently selected from a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms for forming a ring, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms for forming a ring, an alkyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, a silyl group, a halogen atom, a hydrogen atom and a deuterium atom, L is selected from a direct linkage, a substituted or unsubstituted arylene group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms for forming a ring, a substituted or unsubstituted heteroarylene group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms for forming a ring and a divalent silyl group, and Ar is selected from a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms for forming a ring and a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms for forming a ring.
