An apparatus for generating carbon dioxide is disclosed. The apparatus includes: a CO_2-generating medium container that forms a medium having a semisolid gelled semi-permeable membrane including at least one gelling agent in combination with nutritional salts and saccharides so that a solute may be eluted (diffused) by osmotic pressure and induces reaction with yeast in a solution using water as a solvent to generate CO_2; a stopper for closing the CO_2-generating medium container; a connection hose attached through an opening of the stopper to convey the carbon dioxide-containing fermented solution generated in the CO2-generating medium container so that the carbon dioxide-containing fermented solution may be supplied to a water tank; and a fermented solution supply-preventive unit attached to the connection hose so as to prevent the supply of the carbon dioxide fermented solution to the water tank. The method for generating carbon dioxide includes: sterilizing and completely dissolving a mixture containing powder of nutritional salts and saccharides with at least one gelling agent, cooling the mixture and filling the CO_2-generating medium container with the mixture, and carrying out cooling to room temperature or 4°C to induce semisolid-state gelling and to form a semi-permeable membrane. |
