The Combination Flint is a magnesium rectangle block top (6) with a grooved top (7) and a male tongue and grooved bottom (8) paired with a hard ferrocerium rod flint (11) fixed inside said grooved top (7) and a metal shaped striker, splitter (9) attached. A close fitted waterproof softwood rectangle block bottom (12) having a female tongue and grooved top (13) is mated to the said male tongue and grooved magnesium block top (6) and the said soft wood block (12) has a hole (14) two thirds the length of itself and is filled with large magnesium shavings (16) and is closed off. When mated together both pieces will align perfectly to form the Combination Flint (15). The said magnesium block top (6) can be recharged with another replacement softwood block bottom (12) after a softwood block bottom (12) has been split and then burned by striking the hard ferrocerium rod flint (11) .
