PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating method for molten steel in a tundish in a continuous casting of steel.SOLUTION: A tundish is divided into a steel receiving part and a casting part with a partition wall having communication holes at the bottom, in between, the casting part is provided with an airtight lid to form an airtight space above a molten steel, in the space of which a graphite heating element is disposed and energized to be heated to perform radiation heating for a slug layer, which is generated by causing slug therein to float. Then, inert gas is blown through an air-permeable plug to agitate the slug and the molten steel to facilitate heat transfer and temperature equalizing as well as maintaining durability of the heating element in the atmosphere made inert.EFFECT: The disclosed method facilitates a precision casting temperature control, and also contributes energy saving by lowering a refining completion temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
