PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting device which allows a cutting of workpieces made of mechanically brittle and non-metallic materials which are moved at a predetermined feed rate and in a feed direction.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the device for cutting through workpieces of mechanically brittle and non-metallic materials moving at a predetermined speed along a separation line after scoring. The device includes a tool holder which is rotatably about an axis of rotation. According to the present invention, the tool holder accommodates at least one cutting wire as a cutting tool to introduce a surface rupture or a crack into the workpiece, and the cutting wire is disposed in the tool holder in such a manner that the surface rupture or the crack is introduced substantially perpendicular to a feed direction of the workpiece moving at a predetermined speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3b |
