A motor control device (1) is provided with a motor (2), an inverter (5), and a control device (6). The control device has a device (S110, S140) for detecting the rotation position and rotation speed of the motor, a rotor positioning control device (S170), a motor deceleration device (S160, S220), and a device (S130, S150) for determining the rotation speed of the motor. When the rotation speed is at or above a first prescribed rotation speed, a control for causing the motor to rotate at a target speed is started on the basis of the rotation position detected by the detection device, without positioning control being performed. When the rotation speed is lower than the first prescribed rotation speed, and at or above a second prescribed rotation speed, the motor is caused to decelerate by the deceleration device, and when the rotation speed of the motor is lower than the second prescribed rotation speed, the positioning control is started by the positioning control device. |
