This optical transmitter (1) is provided with a modulation driver (13) which draws a modulated current (i1) corresponding to a data signal, an auxiliary driver (14) which draws an auxiliary current (i2) during no-signal segments, and a VCSEL (17) which inputs a drive current (i5) calculated by subtracting the auxiliary current (i2) from the difference between a bias current (i3) and the modulation current (i1).
