PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To not break a fluid-tight seal between a sealing surface at a distal end of a shaft of a male bayonet connector and an inner surface of a female receiving structure.SOLUTION: A male bayonet connector connects sections of tubing to each other, and comprises a first shaft including a first distal end portion and a first proximal end portion. The first proximal end portion of the first shaft is configured to engage a first section of the tubing, and the first distal end portion of the first shaft has a first sealing surface configured to engage a first inner surface of a female receiving structure to create a fluid-tight seal. A first annular channel is defined by a distal sidewall. A ratio of a length of the first sealing surface to a distance between the distal sidewall and a grip is such that a side-load force up to 10 pounds applied onto the male bayonet connector does not break the fluid-tight seal between the first sealing surface and the first inner surface of the female receiving structure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
