PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal-type continuously variable transmission in which the axial displacement of a trunnion can be surely regulated without enlarging a cylinder body and without using a yoke and a mechanical stopper.SOLUTION: The toroidal-type continuously variable transmission includes a drive unit that comprises: a hydraulic cylinder 31a; a drive piston 33 connected to a trunnion 15; a displacement sensor 100 which detects the axial displacement of the trunnion 15; and regulation means 101 which regulates the displacement of the drive piston 33 by making oil confined in the hydraulic cylinder 31a when the displacement sensor 100 detects that the axial displacement of the trunnion 15 exceeds a prescribed threshold, so that it is not necessary to have a large clearance between the drive piston 33 and an upper surface or a lower surface of the hydraulic cylinder 31a. The axial displacement of the trunnion therefore can be surely regulated without enlarging a cylinder body and without using a yoke and a mechanical stopper.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
