摘要 Methods and systems are provided for using selective cylinder deactivation for knock control with reduced fuel penalty. Cylinders with heavier knock and/or more borderline limited spark may be transiently deactivated until they are sufficiently cool. While reactivating the cylinders following cooling, other cylinders that are knocking, hot, or borderline spark limited may be deactivated.
