An embodiment of the present invention relates to a method for driving a display apparatus which comprises a display panel which includes a plurality of pixels, a light source device which emits light to the display panel, and a control unit which controls the display panel and the light source device. The method for driving a display apparatus comprises the steps of: driving, by the control unit, an emission period by lighting a light source provided in the light source device and applying pixel data to the display panel; and driving, by the control unit, an non-emission period by driving a light source unit provided in the light source device in an OFF state and driving at least one of pixels of the display panel in an ON state.
