PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish both improvement of energy efficiency and assurance of keeping a scraping-up amount of oil at its starting time.SOLUTION: A vehicle drive device of this invention comprises a scraping-up member 6 for use in scraping up oil from an oil storage part 7; and a gear mechanism for receiving supplied oil scraped up. The gear mechanism has a stepped pinion including a large-diameter pinion and a small-diameter pinion; a ring gear forming member 70; and a supporting member 80. The ring gear forming member 70 has a small-diameter cylindrical part 71; a large-diameter cylindrical part 72; an annular plate part 73; and an axial abutting part 75. The supporting member 80 has an abutting surface 81a abutting against the axial abutting part 75. Orientation of the small-diameter pinion and oblique teeth of a ring gear 56 is set in such a way that a thrust force to cause the axial abutting part 75 to approach the abutting surface 81a during forwarding motion of a vehicle is generated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
