PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal device capable of reducing leakage of fluid from a high pressure side to a low pressure side of a packing while keeping a seal function by compression fixing, and a packing used in the seal device, as regards a secondary seal of a mechanical seal.SOLUTION: In a seal device, an annular packing 5 having an elastic seal material 51 is compressed and fixed between a first fixing member 1 and a second fixing member 4, and fluid between a high pressure side and a low pressure side is tightly sealed by the compressed packing 5. The packing 5 has elastic seal portions 5a, 5b of an annularly continuously extending elastic seal material 51 functioning as a seal part while at least a part of it is abutted against each of the first fixing member 1 and the second fixing member 4, and at least one of the high pressure side and the low pressure side of the elastic seal material 51 is provided with coating portions 6a, 6b coated with coating through which the fluid more hardly permeates than the elastic seal member 51 is applied.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
