PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve focus detection accuracy in an imaging device for performing focus detection in a phase difference detection system by using a signal obtained from a focus detection pixel and a method for controlling the imaging device.SOLUTION: The imaging device is configured to calculate defocus quantity in an imaging optical system on the basis of an image signal to be obtained from an imaging element (S1108), and to calculate an evaluation value based on the contrast information of the image signal (S1105), and to determine whether or not the defocus quantity calculated in the past should be considered on the basis of the evaluation value (S1112), and to, when it is determined that the defocus quantity calculated in the past should be considered, calculate final defocus quantity on the basis of the plurality of defocus quantity including the defocus quantity calculated in the past (S1114).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11 |
