PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a mold cavity capable of obtaining a high-quality casting which dispenses with high-temperature firing of a casting that increases the cost, dispenses with embedding of the casting into coked sand, has such heat resistance and strength as to be capable of withstanding iron casting manufacture at one thousand and several hundreds degrees, and has no pattern residue defect; and a casting method using the mold cavity.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a mold cavity includes: using a facing material obtained by adding aluminum salt as a binder to refractory powder containing alumina as a main component and adding heat-resistant ceramic fiber as a reinforcing material thereto; repeatedly coating a foam resin pattern with the facing material as an aqueous facing a plurality of times; heating the foam resin pattern to a temperature of a disappearance temperature of the foam resin pattern or higher and lower than 800°C; and thereby causing the foam resin pattern to disappear and drying and curing the facing to be formed into a mold cavity.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
