PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal material that can give an optical anisotropic layer showing a reverse wavelength dispersion or a low wavelength dispersion in a monolayer state and having excellent surface hardness.SOLUTION: A compound represented by formula (I) below and a liquid crystal composition comprising this compound are provided.
