PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a 2-benzyloxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine derivative useful as an intermediate for medicines and agrochemicals and an electronic material intermediate; and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: There are provided: a 2-benzyloxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine derivative represented by the formula (1); and a method for producing the derivative obtained by the reaction of 2-benzyloxy-4-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine and an aniline derivative in the presence of a base.
