An ultrasound system for delivering a substance to a target tissue using acoustically-responsive payload delivery vehicles includes a transducer system and controller. The controller is configured to focus acoustic energy on a first portion of the target tissue during a first period and focus acoustic energy on a different portion during a second period. The controller can change the location at which the energy is focused until the entire target tissue is treated. The controller can change the size of the location at which energy is focused, the intensity of the acoustic energy at the location, and/or the length of the time energy is focused on a particular portion of tissue. A thermal monitoring system can monitor tissue temperature as each portion of the tissue is being treated. An imaging system can be used to detect release of the payload in each portion of the tissue. |
