This ultrasonic observation apparatus 1 comprises: an ultrasonic probe 2 that is capable of two-dimensional scanning of an ultrasonic beam by changing the transmit and receive directions of ultrasonic waves to first and second directions; a transmit/receive unit 3 that controls the transmit and receive directions of the ultrasonic beam; an image processing unit 5 that generates volume data of a B-mode image from the results of the scanning of the ultrasonic beam in the first and second directions; an input unit 6 that sets as a reference image an image where a first region of interest is extracted clearly; a storage unit 8 that stores the reference image; and a calculation unit 4 that corrects a scan plane so that an image similar to the reference image set with the input unit 6 is constantly displayed. The calculation unit 4 automatically corrects the position of a second region of interest for analysis of temporal variation of intensity, synchronously with the movement of the first region of interest on the scan plane. |
