PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for an optical amplifying apparatus capable of easily obtaining a desired optical output and contributing to reduction in size.SOLUTION: In a control method for an optical amplifying apparatus 1, a first voltage is applied to an optical attenuation part 12 in a semiconductor chip 11 including an optical amplification part 13 and the optical attenuation part 12 integrated therein, an optical intensity L1 is calculated on the basis of a value IM of current flowing through the optical attenuation part 12 when the light L1 enters the optical attenuation part 12, and a second voltage set on the basis of a result of the calculation is applied to the optical attenuation part 12 to perform control for driving the optical amplification part 13. In the control method, the intensity of output light output from the optical amplification part 13 is detected, and the optical amplification part 13 may be feed back-controlled on the basis of a detection result of the output light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
