This device is provided with: a buckle switch (18) which detects insertion of a tongue (12) into the buckle (14) of a seat belt and release of the tongue (12) from the buckle (14); a signal transmission unit (22) which wirelessly transmits a signal indicating the state of the buckle switch (18); and a wearing detection control unit (20) which controls the signal transmission unit (22) so as to transmit a different signal during a first time period, from insertion to release of the tongue in the buckle (14), and during a second time period, from release to insertion of the tongue.
