The disclosed concept relates to a vacuum interrupter and an arc-resistant shield. The arc-resistant shield is positioned between ceramic insulators. Each end of the arc-resistant shield is hermetically sealed in the ceramic insulator. The arc-resistant shield includes an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface includes an arc-resistant material. A pair of electrode assemblies, which can be separable to make arcing, are arranged in the arc-resistant shield. In a particular embodiment, the arc-resistant material is a copper-chromium alloy. |
