FOAM-THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER LAMINATE BASED OSTOMY FLANGES FOR EASY WELDING TO OSTOMY BAG

Foam-thermoplastic elastomer laminate based ostomy flanges are provided. Such flanges allow for easy welding to ostomy pouches without requiring a separate application of adhesive just prior to bonding the flange with an ostomy pouch. The ostomy flanges include a foam substrate having a thermoplastic elastomer layer on one side or two foam substrates, the second containing the thermoplastic elastomer. An adhesive layer is included on a side of the foam substrate opposite from the thermoplastic elastomer layer. A tie layer may be included to anchor the adhesive layer to the foam substrate. The flange can be welded to an ostomy pouch by the application of heat and/or pressure to form an ostomy appliance that can be applied to peristomal skin of an ostomy patient for collecting discharge from a stoma.
