A security system includes one or more secure zones (202-208), user access to which is restricted, an access control manager (212), a first gateway (132) and a second gateway (134). The first gateway is configured to restrict access to the second gateway, and the secure zone is accessible via the second gateway. When a user (102) attempts to access the first gateway, the access control manager checks user access permissions and, if allowable, a one-time pad key is used to access the first gateway. The access control manager then checks which of the secure zones the user may access and grants access to these zones via one or more symmetric encryption keys. The keys may be generated by a key generator (216). The symmetric keys may be generated from the one-time key. Access to the secure zone(s) may be time-restricted. |
