<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a display device and a control method of the same capable of reducing power consumption, by determining lights-out of a light source part connected to power supply means and stopping switching operation of the power supply means corresponding to the light source part. <P>SOLUTION: A display device 100 includes: multiple DC converters 102a-102d; and multiple LED blocks 103a-103d each connected to each of the DC converters. The LED blocks each form a light source part of an illumination area of a backlight device. A video signal processing part 107 includes a black insertion control part 107a and a local dimming control part 107b, for participating in luminance control. BL power source control parts 106a-106d perform control for, when it is determined that light of one of the LED blocks is turned off, stopping switching operation of the DC converter corresponding to the LED block. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
