Image capturing apparatus with light-emitting notification means providing notification of self-timer operation status, time setting means to set a time of the self-timer (e.g. 5 seconds), and control means controlling light-emitting means to provide a notification of the self-timer status if the time of self-timer is not shorter than a predetermined time (e.g. 10 seconds) and to not provide a notification of the self-timer status if the time of self-timer is shorter than a predetermined time (e.g. 2 seconds). Mode setting means may set one of plurality of operation modes, with a first mode that may control light emitting notifications irrespective of the time set on the self-timer, and a second mode for a dark place (e.g. shooting a starry sky, nightscape or skyrocket) with notifications turned on or off in accordance with the time set on the self-timer. Countdown self-timers are used in group photography or with a tripod to prevent camera shake. |
