PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thrown-in coin detection device capable of securely detecting coins in different attitude and at different positions.SOLUTION: A thrown-in coin detection device includes a light emission device which emits light on a bottom part of a coin passage, a light reception device which receives light from the coin passage and outputs an electric signal corresponding to the intensity of the received light, and a coin detection signal generation circuit which outputs a coin detection signal on the basis of the output signal from the light reception device, and a reflector which diffuses and reflects the light emitted by the light emission device is arranged at the bottom part of the coin passage. When no coin is thrown in, reflected light from the reflector is received directly by the light reception device, which enters a steady state of substantially constant received light intensity. The coin detection signal generation circuit is configured to detect either of states in which a thrown-in coin acts on at least one of the projection light from the light emission device and the reflected light from the reflector to cause the received light intensity of the light reception device to increase and decrease from the steady state respectively. |
