Magnetically coupling manikin joints

A mannequin (manikin) comprising an attach base 18 contained within the torso (12 figure 2) of the mannequin and adapted to hold a set of magnets of one pole 20, and a lead-in base 16 adapted to hold a set of opposite pole magnets 22 mounted within the removable limbs of the mannequin so that the magnets attract one another and facilitate self-alignment of the mannequin components. The attach and lead-in bases have a magnetic force regulation means 26 which may be a flux shield injection molded from polycarbonate. The magnets may be housed within compartments within the attach or lead-in bases which may also include guiding means such as lead in conical pins 24 and rectangular locating blocks (30, figure 3) with corresponding openings to give the assembler a sense of touch when assembling the mannequin and provide a sense of stability to the mannequin. The magnetic regulation means allows for the magnetic pull strength to be adjusted to prevent injury from the magnets snapping into place.
