The method comprises manufacturing a base member 110 from a foamed material, such as polyurethane or resin, and cleaning and drying its surface. A thermosetting plastic 31, for example a phenol resin, is spread on the surface of the base member and heated before being covered by coated abrasive particles 50 and dried. The tool may be formed from two parts having different heights and diameters. The particles may differ in terms of roughness, hardness, and grain form on each of the parts. The tool is used to remove excess or dead skin from the body, for example the feet. The adhesive particles may be formed from aluminium oxide or silicon carbide. A dye or decorative element may also be adhered to the thermosetting plastic. Sputtering may be used to apply the abrasive particles to the plastic and the tool may further be covered in anti-bacterial agents to prevent infection. |
