Subjec t The subject is to provide a liquid crystal composition that includes a polymerizable compound and satisfies at least one of characteristics such as a high maximum temperature, a low minimum temperature, a small viscosity, a suitable optical anisotropy, a large negative dielectric anisotropy and a large specific resistance; and a AM device that has characteristics such as a small rate of screen burn-in, a short response time, a low threshold voltage, a large voltage holding ratio, a large contrast ratio and a long service life. Means for Solving the Subject The means are a liquid crystal composition including the compound (1) and the compound (2), and a liquid crystal display device containing the composition:
